I’m excited to announce that my daughter Julie has joined me in offering tutoring services. While I focus on elementary and middle school students, Julie’s expertise is with high school and college students, offering1:1 tutoring in essay writing, college applications, and SAT tutoring. 

 

Julie graduated from Reed College in 2024 with a BA in English and a minor in Spanish. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa and received academic commendations all four years. While in college, she worked as a tutor for younger students, and worked for a year as an asynchronous, online essay tutor for international students. While at Reed, she also worked in the admissions office, interviewing prospective students and giving tours. She has an inside perspective on the admissions process. She is currently living in Valéncia, Spain, teaching English to middle and high school students. 

 

She says. “Working with a student on writing is a wonder. Every one of us is deeply interesting, and helping students recognize this about themselves and express their ideas is my goal. On a practical level, I want students to get into a college where they will flourish. And, I want everyone to feel good about their schoolwork and find pleasure in it.”

 

Julie will be doing live, online sessions paired with asynchronous assignments and feedback. Because this is her first year joining our practice, we’re offering sessions at $50-65/hr, with a free initial session to get acquainted and discuss goals.
